Cabral Gold Corp. (TSXV: CBR) President and CEO Alan Carter joins Kitco Mining’s Investment Trends with Paul Harris to discuss Cabral’s move into production at its Cuiú Cuiú gold district in Brazil, following a construction decision and secured project financing.
Carter said the company is building its phase one oxide operation and expects to declare commercial production in the fourth quarter of this year. A pre-feasibility study released in July 2025 outlined a starter mine producing roughly 18,000 to 19,000 oz of gold per year. “We modeled the project at a gold price of $2,500 an ounce,” Carter said, noting the study delivered a 78% after-tax rate of return and projected all-in sustaining costs of about $1,200 per oz. With gold prices now well above those assumptions, Carter said capital payback at current prices is “probably in the order of about four months,” adding the build is “on schedule” and “on budget.”
The interview also covers Cabral’s $45 million US gold loan financing, which Carter said involved no equity dilution and was provided by the company’s largest institutional shareholder. He said phase one cash flow is expected to fund exploration and growth, stating, “We are not going to need to dilute this capital structure going forward.” Carter also said the company plans to update its global resource later this year following 35,000 m of drilling and multiple new discoveries.
